So goes one hair transplant to step by step
With the Fue technique, an advanced method of hair transplantation, hair follicles can be effectively moved from dense areas on the back of the head to more sparse areas without damaging the scalp tissue. This technique is used to give a natural look to the hair and is performed under local anesthesia, making the treatment painless for the patient. In addition, the procedure does not require an overnight stay, so the patient can return home the same day the procedure is performed.
Consultation
At the first consultation visit at Akacia Medical, we go over your expectations, examine your hair quality and general health to assess whether you are suitable for a hair transplant. We also give you all the necessary information about the procedure, including cost, time required and waiting time. You will be asked to fill out a form about your health, previous surgeries or illnesses to ensure that we take all factors into account before proceeding with the procedure. The consultation usually takes place at our clinic, but for long-distance customers it can in some cases be carried out online.

On the day of surgery
When you come to Akacia Medical on the day of surgery, you meet the surgeon in the morning. The surgeon will tell you how the hair transplant is to be carried out and draw the hairline and take pictures. The planning also includes future development to ensure that the result looks natural for the rest of your life.
The operation
During the actual transplantation of the hair follicles on the day of surgery, the procedure is performed under local anesthesia. If needed, you may be given sedative medication to help you feel more relaxed. During the operation, you can rest comfortably in the operating chair.
Before the operation, we shave both the donor area and the recipient area and clean your head. The hair follicles are then punched out and carefully picked out one by one to then be inspected under a microscope. At this stage, you will receive an additional local anesthetic in the area where the transplant is to take place. The grafts are then placed in the channels made by the surgeon.
A large hair transplant of around 2500-3500 hair follicles usually takes around 6-10 hours. During the operation, you as a patient can take short breaks. When half of the operation has been completed, we will serve you lunch.
When the operation is complete, we place a bandage over the donation area. The newly transplanted area is very sensitive, and we will go over carefully with you how your aftercare should be done.
After the operation
During the first two weeks after your hair transplant, it is important to avoid touching the transplanted area with your fingers, and you must also not wear a headdress or cover your head with anything during this time. For the use of a helmet, you must wait 3 weeks. In addition, you should avoid heavy lifting and physical exertion during these two weeks. After two weeks, you can start washing your whole head as usual again.
You will have continued contact with Akacia Medical even after the operation until an evaluation has been made. The final result of the transplant becomes visible after 12 months.
